Schalke announce preseason tour of China in bid to expand internationally [ad_1]

Schalke will spend part of their preseason campaign in China.

Schalke have announced their second consecutive summer tour of China, citing it as "the perfect opportunity to expand the club's reach internationally."

Schalke toured China last summer, and will return to one of football's biggest growth markets between July 16 and 22.

The Royal Blues are set to announce their opponents for two friendlies against European opposition on July 19 and 21, with the club telling ESPN FC earlier this year that there are plans for an all-German friendly in China already this summer.

Schalke, who will be based in Shanghai for the majority of their tour, hope to build on their 2016 tour of China.

Marketing executive Alexander Jobst said: "China is one of the most important target markets in our internationalisation strategy. For that reason, our second trip to China gives us the perfect opportunity to expand the club's reach internationally."
